School History

Liberty Middle School began operation in August, 1985 in the building that was vacated when the new Liberty High School opened. It was in this facility that fifth through eighth graders came together to form the first "middle" school in Pickens County. Dennis Somerville served as the school's principal from 1985 – 2005. Following Mr. Somerville was Donivan Edwards, who led the staff and students from 2005 - 2014. Our current principal is Dr. Tim Mullis who began his service at LMS in 2014.
In August of 2012, the faculty, staff, and students of LMS moved into a new building. The building that formerly housed Liberty High School was completely renovated and updated for the LMS Falcons. We are proud to have this beautiful facility where we learn, grow, and enjoy each day.

Colors and Mascot

The colors of Liberty Middle School are red, white and black.
The school's mascot is the falcon. The promotion of patriotism and citizenship will be the foundation for school spirit.
